As cool stands go they don’t come much better than this decorated bazaar feeling unit by Desigual at Pitti Bimbo.
A cornucopia which draws you inside and cheers you up instantly.
I also love the cool clinical charm of the rows of Moncler athletes but Desigual had them beat this time.

Nothing has been more on trend at this years show than the trilby hat in all varieties of straw and printed fabric both for boys and girls.
Some other top trends at Pitti Bimbo for next summer are Converse style laced boots, twisted long cotton checked scarves, wide brimmed straw hats, backpacks and soft fabric bags.

Congratulations to John Galliano who received the Legion de Honour from President Sarkozy last week for services to French fashion at Dior.
Here is a quick preview of his new collection previewed at Pitti Bimbo 71 for summer 2011 for boy’s and girls which hinges on a 50’s prom theme with Little Miss America beauty pageant dresses for the girls and boyswear based on bowling, surfing and pinball player styles.
Also new for next summer is an extensive baby range too which reflects the same themes and fabrics as the older kids style.

Amazingly Pitti Bimbo, the world’s top fashion fair for children based in Florence have put a good selection of photos from the shows that happened this weekend on their website for all to access at this link.
I have shown a selection of what to expect next summer below, I was not too excited by the trends for next summer as they all seem to be repeats of items we have already seen but in the current climate proven sellers are the most important thing.
Girls fashion tended to be frilly, ruffled and predictably pink or floral with a few notable exceptions I will post later in the week while checks and stripes again dominated for boys with both sexes favoring the trilby hat as accessory of the season.A few baggy tapered trousers were in evidence picking up on womenswear trends but there was not much of the maxi dress trend seen for adult fashion, perhaps the manufacturers decided it was not suitable for little girls.
Two new launches of big brand names from Gucci and Fendi, both were well received with buyers particularly keen on Gucci although personally I thought the Fendi offering more interesting. Both will have great gift items with a very strong baby range by Gucci.

Luisa Via Roma seen during Pitti Bimbo fashion – Lanvin Dolls
January 30, 2010
There is always one shop to visit while in Florence for Pitti Bimbo and that is Luisa on the Via Roma.
Always ahead of the trends it is a fantastic wonderland of the best that adult fashion has to offer and breaks in many new name designer labels.
This season I walked into a bright tropical coloured wonderland there with fairground music and fantastical creations by Marc Jacobs, Lanvin, Balmain,Victor and Rolf and some of the newer names, If Six Was Nine, Mark Fast and Jean-Pierre Braganza.
What really caught my eye was the new selection of Lanvin porcelean dolls in the display cabinets festooned with jewelry and displayed with what looked like Polly Pocket play pieces from the 80’s.
There were no sale pieces in sight and I later learnt of the brand new wheeze Luisa’s thought up to not sully the look of the store with sale merchandise. They had organised a mini bus to collect customers at the front of the shop and take them to another shop stocking just the sale merchandise and then return them to the store at regular intervals.
I could see that catching on!
Sorry the pics are a bit fuzzy, taken with my mobile before I was asked to stop photographing, but the dolls are on the website and can be bought starting at £100 for the glass dome and £350 for the mother and daughter statuette.
I was also impressed by the Front window display although not in motion when I was there I suspect there is a choreographed dance of hands and hats once an hour.

Day 2 at Pitti Bimbo a/w 2010, Roberto Cavalli
January 24, 2010
The highlight of Friday was the Roberto Cavalli show, always a lighthearted fun show it was enlivened by the eccentric appearance of Roberto himself, videoing his son who was modelling while puffing on a blue cigarette, then grabbing a young baby girl model and climbing onto the catwalk for the finale parade joined by his wife Eva who had been orchestrating backstage.
As the last show of the fair it provided apt entertainment to those present.
The collection featured signature Cavalli prints, the ever popular trapper style hats, pearl encrusted jeans and jean jackets, beautifully tailored wool coats and layered looks for the boys.

Alex and Alexa kids fashion new summer look book
January 18, 2010
I was browsing a few websites today and noticed that Alex and Alexa had a new magazine look book released.
The design label Bonnie Young is already stocked at Harvey Nichols childrenswear dept Step2wo and is really a top end purchase with high quality fabrics and attention to little details.
I am looking forward to see her new collection for next winter in Florence next week, meanwhile here are a couple of images from her hippy inspired summer collection.
Other news from Pitti Bimbo is that Roberto Cavalli will be having a catwalk presentation on Friday, these are always fun affairs and the kids look stylish without being overly sophisticated.
