Geek chic for boys, still a popular kids trend for summer 2012

Just as Geek chic still has a hold on menswear so it is for boyswear too as these pics from the children’s fashion fair Pitti Bimbo previewing next summer’s kids fashion show.
In fairness these kids are so cute anything would look good on them but it is quite refreshing to see the little ones dressed up in such a particular fashion and the bow tie works wonderfully with these trad style clothes.
And Boy Scout chic too? Well, I guess there is a first time for everything!

The opening day of Pitti Bimbo 71 for children’s fashion spring/summer 2011 today.
It will be really busy today so I may not get much posting done during the fair but there will be lots to come after. New names including Fendi and Gucci to look out for as well as key favorites such as Monnalisa and Miss Blumarine will show.

What is it with boys fashion and check shirts?

If there is one item I keep seeing again and again in the new winter children’s fashion collections it is checked shirts.
In fact check is pretty much over everything, trousers, knits and jackets too. Partly this is because we are having a grunge revival moment in boyswear, partly I suspect it is because it makes more money than a plain T-shirt and is a useful layering item. However this has been going on for a few years now and it still seems to be the most popular stand out item in many boys ranges.
News also just in from Pitti Bimbo for its 71st edition in two weeks time in Florence is that Woolrich will be having a catwalk show on Friday June 25th at midday.
Look out for the new summer checks then!
