This will be the last post for the catwalk shows for Pitti Bimbo 70, a combination of the remaining labels as tomorrow with any luck and if the Eurostar is operating in the freezing temperatures I am heading off to Playtime in Paris for the day.
Our labels today are a mixed bunch from the Altana group which encompasses Pinko ( not to be confused with I Pinco Pallino) and Moschino, the strongest names in the group.
Also here is Sarabanda who have not shown on the catwalk before and Iceberg whose styling was the slickest of the bunch but who are hampered by their tie in with Loony Tunes which results in cartoon faces all over the collection.
Pinko have a strong offering aimed at an older girl, Moschino play a lot on their heritage using the Peace logo liberally in the collection which tends towards casual pieces and Sarabanda had some sweet pieces with frills for girls and classic knits and smart tailoring for boys.
I will run some stand reports from Pitti next week with a few of the new and established names
At Moschino I was more impressed by the stand display than the catwalk show which was to be honest a bit of a shambles.

Monnalisa – snap report from Pitti Bimbo 70 for a/w 2010
January 23, 2010
More from the Monnalisa and Il Gufo on Thursday night in Florence.
Highlight trends for next winter are a development of last years with lots of emphasis on volume in skirts and puffy gathered coats and dresses, lots of layering, armlets and leggings, lots of decoration and fussy neckline details with ruffles, brooches and draped scarves.
Fabric favorites are tweeds in bold and dogtooth checks, tartans, herringbone, patchwork wools, rich shiny velvets, wool lace, suede and still shiny nylon fpr padded jackets.
Giant bows, fur collars and ribbon ties are favorite decorations.

I will be flying out to Pitti Bimbo today so in the meantime here is a quirky little company from France with some striking visuals and a bold concept based on clothes cut from circles, squares, ovals and rectangles for children from 6 months to 12 years.
The company is BOdeBO and certainly these items suit an artistic leaning and are not to traditionalists tastes but they are fun for kids to wear and play with freedom of movement.
There is also a complementary range all in black called BOdeBO Bio which is made in 100% certified organic cotton jersey.
And finally I am adoring this new toy Moishe from Where The Wild Things Are, what an antidote to cutesy bunnies. From £16.95 at John Lewis and other stores and of course totally not suitable for under 3yrs. I do think he is as cute as a monster could ever be.
Alex and Alexa kids fashion new summer look book
January 18, 2010
I was browsing a few websites today and noticed that Alex and Alexa had a new magazine look book released.
The design label Bonnie Young is already stocked at Harvey Nichols childrenswear dept Step2wo and is really a top end purchase with high quality fabrics and attention to little details.
I am looking forward to see her new collection for next winter in Florence next week, meanwhile here are a couple of images from her hippy inspired summer collection.
Other news from Pitti Bimbo is that Roberto Cavalli will be having a catwalk presentation on Friday, these are always fun affairs and the kids look stylish without being overly sophisticated.
One of the constants at the Italian trade fair Pitti Bimbo which opens next Thursday is the top brand I Pinco Pallino.
They are celebrating 30 years as a brand this year and their distinctive delicate dressing up clothes style has seen the collection sought after by parents everywhere for special occasions, wedding, parties and just sheer delight in girliness.
I love them for their use of ginger models too, every season a new selection appear in their publicity and are used for their sadly infrequent catwalk shows.
Their offering now spans different price levels from the top end main range through to the more funky and casual 1950 range but the design concepts remain strong throughout.
The label is not sold widely in the UK but Harrods, Childrens Salon and Plum take a tightly edited selection, their strongest markets are the Far East, Italy and increasingly Russia where stand alone stores feature crystal chandeliers and ornate decoration.
Their shoes and decorated handbags are particularly sought after as garden party delights.
Their diffusion label 1950 often features retro styling from the 50’s and 60’s and boys are also catered for with smart suiting and leather jackets at I Pinco Pallino and striped and chequered combinations at 1950.
Pitti Bimbo Children’s fashion for AW 2010 at Florence fair
December 27, 2009
Soon it will be time for the season of trade shows for autumn/winter 2010 kicking off with Pitti Bimbo 70 in Florence from Jan 21st -23rd which I will be going to and reporting from.
New design labels in Florence this season will be Jean Gaultier Junior, Paul Smith Kids, Custo Barcelona, Desigual and Notify.
Among the catwalk presentations will be Monnalisa, Laura Biagiotti Dolls and Il Gufo.
New names at Pitti in Florence include the rather interesting Suzanne Ermann, a French designer with a Haute Couture background who specialises in modern wedding styles ( pic below) and is launching her first children’s collection.
Also on my agenda will be Playtime in Paris and Bubble in London which I am excited about too, I always prefer the winter season, its less predictable and you have more accessories to play around with.
