RA-RE the Kid and Nolita Pocket ramp up the rocker style trend for kids fashion winter 2011
March 11, 2011
Moving on from the hippie luxe style for children they often show at the Pitti Bimbo trade fair in Florence, RA-RE the Kid and Nolita Pocket showed an edgy rocker style in an unusual presentation which felt more like an Art instillation than a fashion presentation with a huge hall filled with chirping birds in row upon rows perched on sticks above vivid green grass.
The birds twitched and nodded in a most convincing fashion and were a delightful sight. The cool collection was hidden from sight on rails behind a projection at the end of the hall. It was surreal but very succesful.

Black lace, black tailoring, black balloons, Dino e Lucia preview a fabulous winter 2011 children’s fashion collection
February 23, 2011
Not just black it has to be said but certainly some of the strongest looks for kids here trend towards the black, especially the little party frocks.
Always a great collection in superb quality fabrics and with plenty of individual quirks to distinguish the range the French label Dino e Lucia also have pinks, red and metallic tones throughout the collection and have used beading and embroidery to great effect for next winter’s looks. Additional touches include giant contrast fabric bows and ribbon trims.
Knitwear comes in grey tones which reflect the prevailing trends seen at the Pitti Bimbo Trade fair in Florence for winter 2011 where a ton of the daywear was in shades of grey.
Michele Obama chose Dino and Lucia for her girls in 2009 so you know you are in good company with them too.

Children’s fashion footwear styles for winter 2011 from the trade fairs
February 14, 2011
There are some great boots coming for kids next winter, from glitzy quilted and fur bedecked snow boots in Italy and crumpled aged leather pumps in Paris to chunky crepe soled wedgies in Copenhagen, here’s a sneak peak at some of the new styles around for children’s footwear next snowy season!
The most fun pair have been the white yeti shaggy hairy ones from Miss Blumarine at Pitti Bimbo though that shimmied with the models as they trotted down the catwalk. On the whole though it looks as if the quilted snow boot is the way to go for weekend wear.
One of the strong trend themes coming out of the recent Pitti Bimbo trade fair in Florence for autumn and winter 2011 kidswear was the strength of wool tailored styles in both camel and grey tones.
From Crombie style coats for both boys and girls to softer duffles and cape styles almost every show had a piece for children on the catwalks, shown here are Fendi Kids, Silvian Heach and Blauer Junior.

Staggering new children’s dress collection for winter 2011 from US designer Bonnie Young
January 26, 2011
Launched a week ago at the Pitti Bimbo trade fair was this unique kids fashion collection from Bonnie Young.
With a nod to the Ballet Russes and the dance dresses of the 1920’s and an all black and white palette the range is couture like, sadly for most of us with prices to match however it is still truly inspiring. There is a quick turn around on this collection and it is expected to hit Harvey Nichols in the UK early in the season in June for those who want to check it out in reality.

Inspired by all that is medieval from Joan of Arc to Robin Hood, the Crusdades and beyond, designer of the ROMA e TOSCA label Birgit Tyskiewicz has created a wonderful kidswear collection she will be taking to the Pitti Bimbo Fashion Trade fair next week in Florence.
The fair runs from the 19th to 21st January and is the largest and most comprehensive of all the kidswear trade shows with buyers and journalists from all over the world attending.
According to Birgit next winter is all about heavy textured fabrics, cord, tweeds and decoration, metallic dresses and skirts, heavy leather belts and school style satchel bags.Layered skirts, fitted jackets and draped scarves complete the collection. It all looks wonderful and desirable and luckily for those who often dream to own the clothes they see for little ones the age 16 size is generously cut for keen adults to wear too.
