Sprout by GRO and GRO, just one of the cool Scandinavian brands showing kids fashion today at Kleine Fabriek
July 4, 2011
The Danish brand GRO, so named because it is for children who “grow” began when designer Anette Nordrup saw a drawing her mother in law found her husband had done as a child. She loved the drawing so much it became the logo for her label.
The range GRO is for boys and girls between 0-10 years and always features a little Danish flag, the sister line Sprout by GRO is for girls only and a little more sophisticated in styling for slightly older girls.
Both will be showing summer 2012 today at Kleine Fabriek in Amsterdam and in August at CPH Kids in Copenhagen 4th – 7th August.

January 5, 2011
Its that time of year again, Kidswear kicks off a new season in January with the trade shows for children’s top fashion brands showing next winter 2011. For those still to book or unsure what to visit here is a rundown of what is on when;
Jan 16th – 17th – Kleine Fabriek in Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Jan 20th – 22nd – Pitti Bimbo 72 in Florence, Italy
Jan 21st – 23rd – Fimi in Valencia, Spain. An unfortunate overlap there.
Jan 23rd – 25th – ENK Children’s club in New York, USA
Jan 29th – 31st – Playtime Paris, France
Jan 30th – 31st – Bubble London, England. Another overlap which is a shame.
Feb 3rd – 6th – CPH Kids in Copenhagen, Denmark, also CIFF Kids at the same time.
Feb 22nd – 24th – Playtime Tokyo, Japan
Showing at Kleine Fabriek is this knit collection by the English brand Teeny Tini, their quirky styling seems to be a good fit for the Dutch trade fair and I love these pictures.

Jean Paul Gaultier’s summer 2010 collection for kids
January 15, 2010
Jean Paul Gaultier has consolidated his launch last season with a strong kidswear line for 2010.
Based on his signature stripes and contrasting colour schemes with nautical overtones, tuxedo jacket dressing and classic trench styles his mini me lookalikes give classic dressing a new twist.
We have yet to spot any celebrities adopting his line which is a shame as reports from Kleine Fabriek have reached me that much inspiration seemed to come from the petite Suri Cruise and her classic style of girlie dressing.
I think a few funkier celebrity children for inspiration would be preferable, perhaps Gaultier could have a word with some of his more outspoken clients to re-dress the balance.
Will Kleine Fabriek children’s fashion fair succeed with the weather stacked against it?
January 8, 2010
On Sunday 10th and Monday 11th of January the tenth edition of Kleine Fabriek, the Dutch childrenswear Trade show will be held showcasing the best of the Netherlands for Autumn/Winter 2010
The weather over the weekend is looking to be dreadful for the UK as storms come in from the North East so I hope that all the British exhibitors and buyers who may be heading over there have a safe passage.
It looks to be an interesting show with 265 stands and 56 new additions including Brit labels I Love Gorgeous, French Connection, Bonnie Baby and Start-rite.
Also the new relaunched Oilily will be exhibiting which many will be happy to see return.
Below is a selection from the fair .
