It was a fast and furious few days, here are some of my favorite pictures while I try to suss out the trend directions for next summer’s children’s fashion seen at the trade fair Pitti Bimbo.

Amazingly Pitti Bimbo, the world’s top fashion fair for children based in Florence have put a good selection of photos from the shows that happened this weekend on their website for all to access at this link.
I have shown a selection of what to expect next summer below, I was not too excited by the trends for next summer as they all seem to be repeats of items we have already seen but in the current climate proven sellers are the most important thing.
Girls fashion tended to be frilly, ruffled and predictably pink or floral with a few notable exceptions I will post later in the week while checks and stripes again dominated for boys with both sexes favoring the trilby hat as accessory of the season.A few baggy tapered trousers were in evidence picking up on womenswear trends but there was not much of the maxi dress trend seen for adult fashion, perhaps the manufacturers decided it was not suitable for little girls.
Two new launches of big brand names from Gucci and Fendi, both were well received with buyers particularly keen on Gucci although personally I thought the Fendi offering more interesting. Both will have great gift items with a very strong baby range by Gucci.

Modus PR press previews for children’s winter fashion

Walking into the Modus PR company’s press day last week was like entering a happening party. There were so many journalists there all at once to see the new autumn winter lines from clients such as Calvin Klein,Massimo Dutti, Napijira, Sainsbury Tu, Toast and many others.
Children’s fashion was represented at Massimo Dutti, Tu and should be coming from Napijira later in the season but I also popped a picture in from the Toast range as well, their collection is always an inspiration.

At the recent sunglasses and swimwear launch from Calvin Klein my eyes were not only taken by the displays of swimwear on models in a line that greeted you and led to the sunglasses on display ( a surprisingly wide range of styles there too) but by the fabulousness of the location.
Aqua Nueva was a new experience for me and it truly is an experience from an unobtrusive entrance down Argyll St off Oxford Circus you travel up to the 5th floor and enter into a dark womblike nether world albeit a glamourous shiny chic one.
Launched last year by the international restaurant group Aqua ( Bejing and Hong Kong too) it is a stunning world away from the massing crowds at Oxford Circus below and the chic roof terrace will be a great place to chill out in the heat of summer in days to come.
Go visit and see for yourself, tapas at reasonable prices are served at lunchtimes or pop in for a drink one evening.

Calvin Klein stuck pretty much to the basics for this collection, jeans and hoody tops.
Worth noting is that padded jackets are in the now endemic high shine nylon pioneered by Moncler and that topstitching is playing a large part of detailing in girlswear.
Layers with legging, metallic finishes and details and overlong scarves are also key notes. Jeans and boys chinos are straight legged. Hats tend to be of the pull on wool variety.
